PROP's Organics Committee serves members involved in composting and other organic recycling efforts. The Organics Committee, which
has grown from the Pennsylvania Composting Association (PACA), is dedicated to the facilitation of responsible
production and use of compost throughout the Commonwealth. Like the association
from which it has grown, the Organics Committee seeks to:
1. Create a cooperative atmosphere in Pennsylvania
among:
Generators of all compostable materials
Producers and marketers of compost
The agricultural community
Educators involved in compost, including
Cooperative Extension
Researchers involved in compost
Suppliers to the composting industry
Legislative groups at federal, state, and
local levels
Regulatory agencies
Environmental groups
Users of compost
The general public
2. Create a legislative and regulatory climate that
supports composting as a responsible business venture.
3. Enhance public and market acceptance of composting processes and
products.
4. Coordinate and cooperate with the US Composting Council and similar
organizations in other states.
