For those who were planning to attend the march 21 session, you will need to re-register so we can ensure an accurate account for food and transportation.  Keep in mind that the landfill bus tour can only handle a limited number, so please register as soon as possible.

One educational opportunity that I was going to promote was the April 11-12 Waste Audit-Commercial Recycling profession certification class.  See the attached promotional flyer.  This is a comprehensive class that instructs how to plan and implement a commercial recycling program. How does this benefit you and your municipalities?  The more familiar you are with what a business thinks, the more you can help guide them with recycling.  The more recycling, the better your program performance which helps increase 904 grant funding and annual report data.  For all of us administering programs, it is the law and providing technical support can aid in gaining compliance.  Commercial generators produce large quantities of recyclable materials and understanding concepts and what motivates managers of commercial and institutional facilities will pay dividends.  This is an investment of your time and money which will be repaid many times over in your municipalities.  Since this class is held on a college campus, many of the presentations will be from an institutional perspective, but the concepts apply to any non-residential establishment.  You will  learn from processors and municipalities and college representatives who are doing this work and operate successful programs.  This class includes hands-on learning and working together as a team to do a waste audit.  So if you are new to learning about this aspect of recycling, have never taken a PROP certification class, or are a seasoned recycling professional and just want to refresh or learn more – you will gain from interaction with your peers over the two days.  You will not be disappointed taking this class that has been taught by PROP for over 25 years.

In summary, we hope that the weather is more cooperative on April 4 and winter is well behind us.  I look forward to seeing as many of you a possible and learning and sharing to advance our industry.  Thanks again to Chester County Solid Waste Authority for hosting the event.

The meeting will be held at Authority facilities located at 7224 Division Highway, Narvon, PA 17555, which is located on Route 322 on the Chester/Lancaster County border.
