Carton Council Launches Community Education Award :

The Carton Council is excited to announce the launching of their Community Education Award program, which will be awarding $2,000 each to up to 25 communities across the country for their work in educating residents about recycling, with special attention paid to food and beverage cartons.

Any entity or organization that is authorized to educate residents about their local recycling program is eligible to apply. This includes community or county recycling departments and solid waste authorities, as well as materials recovery facilities (MRFs). This is where you come in! We need your help reaching out to your constituents to share information about the award program and encourage them to apply and participate. And while SROs are not eligible to participate, we view you as a great resource for helping to let your communities know about this opportunity.

Any eligible entity that wishes to participate should confirm that food and beverage cartons are accepted in their program and then sign up to participate by May 14, 2021 by filling out the form here. The actual submission will be due on November 17, 2021 to give entities time to execute their communications plans.

We look forward to seeing your communities participate! More information about how they can participate can be found here and please don’t hesitate to reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

The Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania (PROP) is an association of recycling and organics professionals. Our members primary responsibility is to work with residents, commercial establishments, haulers, and vendors to make sure that material designated for the recycling market is collected cleanly and efficiently. Ensuring that all the moving components of a recycling program run as a well-oiled machine requires both technical knowledge and the art of diplomacy. PROP provides a network of industry professionals to help beginner and experienced coordinators develop and improve the knowledge and skills needed to implement and sustain a successful recycling program.
