CCSWA Interpretive Center provides you with all the educational materials you'll need to research, teach or just learn about recycling, composting and other environmental issues. There are guides to videos, information sheets to legislation and so much more. These publications are on topics that span all aspects of the environment. If you're looking for a "one stop shop" to find information you need in Centre County, you've come to the right place.
Tours
We offer tours of our facility. If you or your organization would like to learn how recycling works in Centre County, give us a call. We'll show you our operation, including: the Transfer Station, Recycling Center and the Interpretive Center (photo above). The Interpretive Center is our "Green Building." This building, built from recycled materials, demonstrates what can happen to your recyclables after they leave your bin and our facility. The Centre County Solid Waste Authority (CCSWA) has been recognized for their achievements with the 2008 National Recycling Coalition's (NRC) "Outstanding Government Program Award". CCSWA was chosen from applicants across the country who applied for this award. Executive Director, Ted Onufrak, was asked his thoughts on winning this sought-after award and this is what he had to say. “This award is a tribute to all our employees as well as Centre County residents. You can’t have quality programs without dedicated employees, and regardless of the programs you do have, they
won’t be successful if people don’t participate. A national award such as this exemplifies the environmental conscience of Centre County residents and the commitment of those residents, as well as our employees, towards our recycling efforts and maintaining that quality of life that too often many of us take for granted.”
